and I thought childbirth was hard.

It all started about a two weeks ago when Colby came home from his four day shift with a bit of a sniffle and hack.  This of course immediately spurred me to put him to bed, and to keep Wyatt safely on my hip.  However, taking care of a baby, house, husband, and job doesn't really go that easily.  So sniffly and all Colby would have to change a few diapers, and give a late night bottle.  A week later and Wyatt is sneezing in my face, and a few days later I am hacking.

Being sick and having a little one is the hardest thing I have ever done...I swear it! Girl Scouts honor!!!   Colby is working so I don't have any help, and getting sufficient rest is impossible when I am healthy...so getting it while I am sick is a joke!!  Whenever, I blow my foghorn...ahem nose it wakes up Wyatt.  It doesn't help that when I do get into a deep sleep he starts pounding at me to feed him.   Nyquil is usuallty my drug of choice when sick, but it zonks me out so much I can't trust myself to wake up.   I want to submerge myself in a steamy vapor bath, but then Wyatt gives me the stink eye and reminds me he wants to play.  I know a mom's job is never done, but golly gee I feel like a zombie.  I just float around here with an achy body, and a tissue shoved up my nose...add a grinning baby to that picture and you have me.  I feel so sexy!

I pray for my health back...and hopefully my new legion of cold medicines will do the trick.  It's hard enough being a mom to my little guy while healthy, but being sick is killing me.  This is one of those things that no one warns you about.  Sure everyone tells you to sleep while you can, and just wait till they start moving etc...but NO ONE told me how horrendous it is to care for an infant while sick.

::APPLAUSE::

We have been cloth diapering Wyatt for about a month now here in the Van Wag home!  I have to say CDing is amazing!  I was bound and determined to cloth diaper from the start, and I am so happy I did this.  It's so easy...I mean super easy!  Every other day I throw his dirties in the wash, and lay out the fresh diapers for the next day.  Since starting cloth diapering we have had no more blow outs, and only have leaks when we go too long without changing him.

Of course I am super impressed with the money we are saving too!  We may spend twenty bucks a month (if that!) on disposible diapers. We only use sposies when out and about town...as they are easier to carry in my bag.   I would bet we save over a hundred dollars a month by using cloth diapers.

So many people have given me the side eye when I tell them we are using cloth diapers, but I wish they could try them out.  It just makes so much sense, and it really is so easy.

Blessed Swing

Ohmigosh Wyatt discovered his swing!  We have a Fisherprice Rainforest Swing and it is fabulous!  Not only can we plug it in, but Wyatt loves the critter mobile on it!   So far Wyatt has only been able to hang out in his bouncer and swing for twenty minutes.  Tonight I put him in his swing and he's been happily swinging for nearly two hours now.

Wow...just wow.  I mean I have diapers in the wash, my dishes are in the rinse cycle, read a magazine, dinner in the oven, and I folded two weeks of laundry.  I am feeling pretty good right now.  Wow...there are no words for the relief I am feeling right now.

Tried and True Baby Products

Wyatt is nearly two months old, and has been a trooper trying out all his baby stash in his nursery.

Here is a list of what he loves thus far.

1.  Avent Paci's....LOVE these.  Not only are they great for those times you have to reach behind your seat to pop it in your baby's mouth, but they are adorable.

2.  Muslin Blankets...I love mine!!!  They are so light and airy, and become softer as you wash them more.  I also like the size of them, as they go over the car seat very well.

3.  Carters Footie Pajama's!!!  My kid can live in these things.  So cute with their characterized footies, but also compfy and warm.

4.  Medela Breast Pump (PISA)...this has been a lifesaver, and as Wyatt loves his food this is a huge thumbs up!!

5.  Cloth diapers...this item deserves a post of its own.  I cannot express how much I LOVE cloth diapering.  It's so easy, and when I think of all the benefits of doing this I feel proud.

Have you seen my brain?

Upon getting pregnant I noticed my ability to remember things was waning.  Of course this was irritating, but I managed it well, and prayed for the day brain would return.  However, since having Wyatt my memory is absolutely gone!  I can't remember what I did two days ago, or where I put the television remote.  The worst was when I moaned and groaned all day about a job interview, only to forget I had it a couple hours later!!  What the heck is my problem!  My house is littered in multicolored post its with reminders scratched on them.
However, that only covers my list of things to do.  I am misplacing and losing things all the time.  My newest lost item is my camera...which is driving me batty.  I know I had it on Saturday...but where it went from there I have no idea....hmm maybe the bedroom???  I dunno.

Nonetheless, my brain is swiss cheese and full of holes and I miss it.
